Asbestosis (which may also be known as interstitial pulmonary fibrosis) is usually caused by heavy asbestos exposure unlike other forms of asbestos disease. In the past, people who often developed asbestosis were workers like laggers, asbestos factory workers, dockers who unloaded sacks of asbestos fibre, etc. However, it is also possible to develop mild asbestosis and this may develop in various occupations like plumbers, joiners, electricians, painters, fitters, etc.
