Asbestos and Australian claimants

Can I make a claim even if I no longer live in the UK?

Asbestos compensation for Australian and other overseas clients who were exposed to asbestos in the UK.

In the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's many UK residents moved to Australia and became Australian residents.

Many of these people worked in industry in the UK and had had exposure to asbestos dust. They may have worked in factories where asbestos products were used or worked as joiners cutting up asbestos sheets or as plumbers when they came across asbestos lagging on a daily basis. Many served in the Merchant Navy and had exposure from the lagging on pipes and in engine rooms on board ships.

Because of the length of time that asbestos diseases take to develop or be detected, some diseases take more than 30 years or more to come to light Our clients may develop symptoms of an asbestos disease long after they have emigrated and are living in Australia.

What have we done

Over the last 20 years, we have worked alongside leading Australian lawyers to obtain compensation from UK based companies and/or their insurer(s) for people in Australia.

We have assisted them in obtaining UK Government Benefits too.

We have liaised with the Australian lawyers in order to make sure that they get the best advice.

How do we do it

We take details of the claim over the telephone; we ring either early in the morning or very late at night (our time). Letters and documents can be sent by email or if not possible by Swift Air.

We can ask one of our Australian solicitors to see you if a face to face meeting is required.

We can obtain insurance to cover you even if the case is lost even if the client is an Australian resident. So there is no need to worry about funding the case.

The claim is then made through the English courts because the exposure occurred when our client was living and working in the UK and their former employer was trading in this country.
