OEDA is a registered charity devoted to helping victims of asbestos disease and their families. OEDA needs financial support in order to continue its work, and will be grateful for any donations, no matter how small.
OEDA is recognised by the government and others as a very useful organisation and it took part in the campaign to change the law about asbestos. It fought hard to ban the import and use of asbestos in Britain of all types of raw fibre, including white (chrysotile), semi-finished products and "ready for sale" products.
OEDA wrote a paper which has helped persuade the Government to extend the criteria so that those with lung cancer are more likely to get IIDB.
Over many years OEDA has collected a vast amount of information about asbestos diseases.
It advises on the state compensation system and compensation in the courts. It will advise you about anything to do with illness caused by asbestos.
OEDA offers:
- a quarterly newsletter
-
an Information Advisory Service for those affected by asbestos.
This covers:
- applications for DSS industrial benefits
- claims for compensation
- information on risks - occupational, residential and environmental
- Electron Microscope facilities for analysis of material samples and post mortem tissue
- information from OEDA's archives
- speakers and documentation for meetings
