Asbestos found under Merseyside Fire StationAbout 1,000 tonnes of asbestos have been found hidden underground whilst workers were demolishing Kirkdale Fire Station in Liverpool, reports the Liverpool Echo. A large concrete slab which the fire station sat on was formed partly of asbestos. Work was stopped on Derby Street and the site sealed off as inspectors verified the discovery.
