Lesley Shirley developed mesothelioma last year from going into the factory yard to pick up her parents from work. 

Mrs Shirley, aged 55, accepted a six figure sum as an out of Court settlement from Cape Asbestos whose premises she went to as a child in the 1950’s up until 1963/64. 

She attended the Christmas parties in the canteen between approximately 1957 and 1962.  The canteen was used by workers who had been handling asbestos fibre and whose overalls were contaminated with asbestos dust. 

She caught the bus from outside Acre Mill where the extraction fan blew out air contaminated with asbestos dust which she breathed in.
