John Pickering and Partners Staff to Run 10k for Charity

On 14 June 2009 a team of John Pickering and Partners LLP employees will be donning their running shoes to take part in a charity 10 k run in Victoria Park, London for Barts and the London Charity.  This is an independent charity for the three hospitals of Barts and the London NHS Trust – Barts in the city, The Royal London in Whitechapel and The London Chest in Bethnal Green.

All proceeds raised by our efforts are going towards Barts and The London Heart Attack Centre, Barts and The London Children’s Hospital and the Mesothelioma Research Project conducted at St Bartholomews Hospital.  These are three worthy causes with the Mesothelioma Research Project being particularly close to our hearts. 

Our work at John Pickering and Partners LLP brings us in to contact with mesothelioma victims and their families on a daily basis.  We see the effects of this terrible, terminal disease and are all too aware of the lack of research and awareness in the UK.

Bart’s Mesothelioma Research is aiming to raise awareness of mesothelioma and asbestos related lung cancer in order to improve treatment for current patients and future victims.  The team at Barts believe that the knowledge they gain from research into mesothelioma will also benefit breast cancer, bowel cancer and conventional lung cancer sufferers.

The team consists of Ruth Davies, Ellen Butler, Joanne Waterson. Nadiya Larossi and Michelle Armstrong.  Training and fundraising are underway for the run.
