A recent press report has confirmed that Liverpool City Council has paid compensation in 4 cases for asbestos related diseases.  It states that Liverpool City Council has paid out £250,000 in asbestos compensation claims in the last 18 months.

The information was disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act and confirms that the claims were made by joiners and a boilerman, relating to exposure in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

The story comes after an earlier report that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) had issued an enforcement notice requiring that the Council provides proper training about asbestos to staff that manage buildings.
