A 72 year old retired electrician from Halifax had his claim for asbestos induced mesothelioma settled for a substantial amount.

Our Client worked for T Clarke Plc and James Scott Limited as an electrician at Tilbury B Power Station in Essex whilst it was under construction.  He was employed by both companies to do electrical installation work as well as supervise other electricians.  During his employments he was exposed to vast amounts of asbestos dust especially when working in close proximity to laggers who were contracted to lag the pipe work, boilers and turbines with asbestos insulation. 

Our Client was diagnosed with asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, in July 2007.  He instructed our firm, John Pickering and Partners LLP, soon after he was diagnosed. 

Asbestos Disease Specialists, John Pickering and Partners, initiated a claim against T Clarke and James Scott Limited.  All the evidence was disclosed to the Defendant Solicitors and insurers and they were given a strict time limit in which to settle the case or face court proceedings. 

The case settled for a substantial amount a day before court proceedings were going to be issued.  Our Client received compensation for his pain and suffering, his funeral expenses, the care and assistance he would require from his family members as his health deteriorated, the cost of a stair lift and extra clothing and the loss of his pension income in his lost years. 

We also helped our Client apply for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit and a lump sum payment from the government in the sum of £12,000.00. 

The case settled within 3 months of us seeing our Client at his home and taking instructions from him.
